All-on-4® Treatment Concept
Approximately 40 million Americans are completely edentulous, according to the American College of Prosthodontists. At Oral and Facial Surgery Center, we provide advanced tooth restoration options that can help improve the quality of life for people with no teeth. One such tooth restoration procedure is the All-on-4 Treatment Concept.
What Is the All-On-4 Treatment Concept?
The All-On-4 Treatment Concept is a dental implant procedure that provides patients with a full arch of prosthetic teeth on the day of the surgery. The treatment is named so because the arch is supported by only 4 implants on the lower and upper jaw each.
How Does the All-On-4 Treatment Concept Work?
The All-On-4 Treatment involves 4 titanium implants that are inserted inside the jawbone. These implants are attached to a bridge that consists of a full set of prosthetic teeth that are virtually indistinguishable from your real teeth.
The All-On-4 Treatment Concept is a viable option if you have reduced bone density in your jaw. That is because the two back implants are tilted at 30 to 45 degree angle, which provides stability and reduces the need for a bone graft. The implants are angled in a way that they take advantage of the denser bone remaining in the jaw, avoiding the sinus cavity in the upper jaw and the nerve canal in the lower jaw.
Candidates for All-On-4 Treatment Concept
All-on-4 Treatment Concept is a good restorative option for people with several badly damaged or decayed teeth, those suffering from terminal dentition, and those who are missing all their teeth in an arch or both arches. The treatment may also be recommended for patients who cannot have jawbone augmentation due to chronic conditions like diabetes and osteoporosis, which interfere with healthy bone formation.
Before starting the All-On-4 Treatment Concept, Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Ardoin will carry out a thorough assessment of the patient to determine the right method of treatment.
